About the website

This website contains illustrated articles about nearly 200 books from the Koopman Collection:  introductions, analyses, annotations, illustrations, bibliographical descriptions and references.

The essays are ordered chronologically by period. There are nine periods from 1890 to the present day. Besides this chronological index, there is also an alphabetical index. The alphabetical index makes it possible to search by author, publisher/printer, artist, bookbinder, and key word.

An example
One could find Pierre Reverdy's poem Le chant des morts (1948), which was illustrated by Picasso, via the chronology for the period 1940-1950. There you will find an image from the book and a link to the full illustrated essay.
Via the alphabetical index one could find this in various ways, for instance via the letter P for Picasso, the letter T for publisher Tériade or the letter A for Artists' books.

Navigation
The chronological pages contain an overview of the books that appeared in that particular period, and enable free browsing in the various documents. The illustrations quickly provide you with an indication of the various works, and offer you a choice of which books you would like to investigate further.

Specific searching is also possible. The alphabetical index is the ideal instrument for that.

Visitors van also follow the links inside the description. These links refer to the index pages that help one further. The navigation within the categories for instance is fast and simple.
