Beatrijs is an undisputed highlight in the collection of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. To many Dutch people, this 'juwel in our spiritual literature' is the perfect example of a medieval text. Many have heard the story of Beatrijs at school, but do not know that the rhymed Middle Dutch version of the legend is preserved in only one illuminated maunscript in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. In this website, Beatrijs is made available for scholars the world over.
