In the year 2006 KB and NIAS invited two fellows. Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie (1929) attended in February. The collections of the KB supported his research into the influence of the climate on the history of Western Europe in the period 1200 to 2000. The former director of the Bibliothèque nationale de France and Emeritus Professor of the Collège de France is known as a pioneer in the fields of micro history. His fame is particularly attributed to his book Montaillou, cathars and catholics in a French village 1294-1324. Other publications are The Beggar and the Professor: a Sixteenth Century Family Drama and Carnival in Roman.
