2012 Harold Cook - History of science
Until 2009 Prof. Harold Cook was director of the prestigious Wellcome Trust Centre for the history of medicine at University College London. Over the last few years, he has specialized in medicine and natural history of the Dutch Golden Age. His book on the subject, Matters of Exchange, has received very positive reviews in both the Netherlands and abroad. In it, he relates the beginning of a global trading system to the dissemination of knowledge about nature.
