The Perpetual Time Indicator or Almanac
Fully engraved almanac with a circular calendar with a compass rose in the centre surrounded by the days of the week, the months and days. Made by Jochem Bormeester, end 17th century.
In December 2000, the KB opened the exhibition Almanacs and calendars of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. This web exhibition is based on a booklet that was available during the exhibition.
For this web exhibition 25 almanacs were selected, based on their being worthwhile as a publication, but also because they give an impression of the developments the Dutch almanac has made from the middle ages through to the nineteenth century. The year which these almanacs were meant for may be ages ago, but by presenting them again, they have taken on a new life.
