Ask a librarian is the KB’s digital reference desk. You can ask questions about library procedures or any other subject.

A team of information specialists answers questions on a number of subjects. We specialize in Dutch language, history and culture, and -in a broader sense- the humanities. We help you by providing references to internet sources, specialist databases, books, articles or other institutions. A number of restrictions apply:

  • We do not do your homework for you, nor do we write essays etcetera.
  • If we feel we are not competent or qualified to answer your question, for instance on medicine or law, we refer you to another library or institution.
  • For questions about computers or software please contact your helpdesk.
  • We do not answer questions for quizzes or competitions.

For privacy reasons your personal data are only used to answer your question. They are never given to third parties. After three months they are deleted from our archive. The question and answer may be entered in the KB knowledge bank.

Technical demands are restricted to a current browser, preferably Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 6.0 or later versions.

Within one working day you receive a reaction from us at the e-mail address you provided. This may be an answer, a reference or a notice that we need more time to provide an answer. Besides, you can find all your questions in your ‘Mijn KB’ folder.
