The collection
Well before the poet Willem Kloos (1859-1938) died, it was agreed that his library, with the archive of De nieuwe gids as the pièce de resistance, would be housed in the KB. It was partly on the basis of the unique Perk manuscripts that are part of this archive that Dr Stuiveling produced his standard edition of the poems of Jacques Perk in 1941.
Kloos's private correspondence was later placed in the Literary Collection of the Hague Municipal Archive, now the Literary Museum; the rest of the manuscripts went to the Koninklijke Bibliotheek.
A lesser known fact is that Kloos's library was also transferred to the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. This collection has been placed together in the repository and contains approximately one thousand examples of Dutch and foreign literature and publications on art, history and theology.
