The collection

In 1954, the Koninklijke Bibliotheek was given an important collection of books and journals from the estate of the publisher AAM Stols as a gift of the Friends of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. The gift concerned a collection of books by the writer E Du Perron (1899-1940) plus several sets of journals for which Du Perron had written articles or served as occasional editor, such as Forum, Avontuur, and the special issues of De driehoek. Stols published a great deal of De Perron's work between 1925 and 1946. In 1947 Stols published a biography of Du Perron written by GH 's-Gravesande. In 1948 he published a bibliography of Du Perron's work, a significant portion of which was based on Stols's own collection, which is now housed in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. What makes the books interesting is that many of them contain annotations by the author. The collection also includes a number of extremely rare editions of which no more than twenty or thirty copies were issued. The gaps are being filled in by means of antiquarian acquisition whenever possible.
