Special summer tour: Flora Mundi exhibition and behind the scenes at the KB

This August, the KB is offering a special summer tour in English, combining a visit to the exhibition Flora Mundi: In Search of Lost Voices with a guided tour of the KB itself.

You will start with a guided tour of the KB, including a visit to the stacks. In a short time, you will be introduced to several highlights and remarkable stories from the collection, as well as to the work of the national library.

Then Esther van Gelder, curator of early printed works, will introduce the exhibition, which features twenty historic botanical books on non-European plants. The Syrian designer Donea Almir is also featured in the exhibition with an artwork inspired by an early botanical book on Syrian plants: Icones Plantarum Syriae Rariorum by Labillardière. She will talk about her work during the tour.

During the tour, you will encounter several steps. Unfortunately, this makes the tour less suitable for people in wheelchairs or with mobility problems.
