The Menno Hertzberger Prize will be awarded for the nineteenth time in November 2026. The prize is named after Menno Hertzberger (1897–1982), Dutch antiquarian bookseller, publisher, and bibliophile, who dedicated his life to the book in all its forms. The award continues his commitment to the study and appreciation of the book as cultural heritage, under the auspices of the Nederlandsche Vereeniging van Antiquaren and the KB | National Library of the Netherlands.

Two prizes will be awarded:

• The Menno Hertzberger Prize, for an outstanding book publication in the field of the history of the printed book (including the history of prints and cartography) of the Low Countries in the broad sense, published between 2022 and 2025;
• The Menno Hertzberger Encouragement Prize, for a promising researcher with a book publication in the same field, published between 2022 and 2025.

Anyone may nominate candidates; self-nomination is encouraged.

Please note: Submissions are limited to books (such as monographs, catalogues, or scholarly editions). Theses, dissertations in manuscript form, and individual journal articles are not eligible.

Nominations may be submitted before 20 December 2025 to Paul van Capelleveen at @email, including:

• the title of the publication,
• the author’s name,
• a brief statement of support.

No correspondence will be entered into regarding the jury’s deliberations.

The award ceremony will take place in November 2026 at the KB | National Library of the Netherlands, The Hague.
