17 December 2014 - Wim van der Stelt has joined the Board of Governors of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB), the National Library of the Netherlands as a member. He has been formally installed in this position by Sander Dekker, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Van der Stelt (1959), Vice President Publishing Strategy and Business Development at Springer Science and Business Media, is working in the book trade and publishing world since 1986 and has a fast experience in publishing strategies. In particular he is an expert in the field of digital publishing.
With the appointment of Wim van der Stelt, the Board of Governors of the KB is at its full strength. Prof. Dr. Franciska de Jong has been appointed for a second five-year term. Vice-President Mr. drs. Bert Jongsma is also on his second term.
The implementation of the Public Library Provisions System Act (Wsob) and the departure of the Director General as of 1 January 2015 request the need for governmental continuity. Chairman of the Board of Governors Mr. Drs. Elco Brinkman, who has finished his second term, will therefore stay on to continue guiding the transition process in an administrative way until 1 November 2015.
