Lily Knibbeler, Director General of the KB
22 August 2017 - This morning, KB director general Lily Knibbeler was elected to chair CDNL, the Conference of Directors of National Libraries. The election took place during the conference of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) in Wroclaw (Poland), where CDNL holds its annual meeting. Ms Knibbeler succeeds Kai Ekholm from Finland.
The CDNL was established in 1974 to facilitate discussion and promote understanding and cooperation on matters of common interest worldwide. Each country has only one library with the specific tasks and responsibilities of a national library. The CDNL furthers free discussions about all issues pertaining to national libraries. The 2017 theme of the CDNL is 'National Libraries Connecting Continents and Communities'. Ms Knibbeler is known for her network vision of the library community.
