Have your say on the KB’s Policy Plan (2027–2030)

Inhoudsblokken

The KB publishes a Policy Plan every four years in which it sets out what it aims to achieve as an organisation and within society. Work is currently underway on the Policy Plan for the period 2027–2030, which is due to be presented on 10 November. The KB has now launched a consultation round, calling on interested parties to share their thoughts on its policy for the coming years.

The KB has identified three major societal challenges for which it feels responsible: increasing collective resilience in times of geopolitical unrest and disinformation, the commercialisation of the digital knowledge infrastructure, and the growing knowledge gap. This has resulted in three key priorities on which the draft Policy Plan now focuses:

  1. Free access to information.
  2. A society in which everyone can read, learn and conduct research.
  3. Safeguarding digital and physical public spaces.

Information as a basic necessity

Wilma van Wezenbeek, Director General of the KB: “The current instability threatens not only borders and economies, but also the way in which we share and preserve knowledge. As the national library, we feel a responsibility to create the conditions that ensure people continue to have access to knowledge and stories. Free access to information is a basic necessity for a democratic society. By focusing on these policy guidelines, we hope to further contribute to a resilient society in which people can continue to develop freely. As we refine these goals, we’d love to hear from others about what they think the KB should be responsible for.”

Anyone who would like to share their ideas on the KB’s policy for the next four years is invited to use this web form to do so. You can submit your feedback until Friday 17 July 2026. All responses are greatly appreciated.
