The KB appointed two new Researchers-in-Residence for 2026. Sarah Shoilee (VU Amsterdam) and Dr. Luiza Teixeira-Costa (Meertens Institute) will be using the KB's collections and expertise to conduct their research.
Sarah Shoilee
Sarah Shoilee is in the final year of her PhD programme at the VU Amsterdam. Her research residency at the KB starts this quarter, where her work on the project Linking Collectors and Colonial History: Entity Linking between Delpher Newspapers (1800-1876) and Museum Datasets, involves research into the provenance of museum objects. With the help of Linked Data, obscure museum datasets can be linked to relevant newspaper articles in Delpher. This will make existing information easier to research and more usable for other researchers.
Dr. Luiza Teixeira-Costa
Dr. Luiza Teixeira-Costa is a researcher at the Meertens Institute. Her research residency at the KB will start in the third quarter of 2026. The project, Foreigners we love to hate? Exploring media discourse on invasive and introduced plant species through Dutch texts between 1800 and 2000, focuses on invasive plant species and how the media covers them. The language used in Dutch newspapers is compared with newspapers from Indonesia, Suriname and the former Netherlands Antilles.
Researcher-in-residence
The Researcher-in-Residence programme was established to promote the connection between the KB and academia. Every year, early-year researchers can use the KB's datasets and expertise. Read more about the programme and previous years' researchers.
