The KB will be organising two recurring events on research

Inhoudsblokken

Over the coming period, the KB will be organising two recurring events on research in the KB collections. Participants can listen to researchers’ stories or learn how to use the KB’s resources themselves.

The Story Salon

At the Story Salon, researchers talk about their own research at the KB. They focus not only on the subject matter, but also on the process. What is the nature of their research? What did they come across in the KB? And what does their finished work look like? There will also be time for questions and other discussions. You can also submit your own research for the next Story Salon.

The Story Salon on 2 June centres on the theme of ‘banned books’. Writer and exhibition curator Marjoleine Molenaar researched the subjects and reasons behind book bans throughout the centuries. Retired environmental consultant Sieuwert Haverhoek is working on translating Leo Tolstoy’s banned works.

Research workshop

The KB’s Knowledge Quarter hosts a monthly research workshop. Over the course of 90 minutes, you’ll learn how to use resources such as the KB catalogue and the Digital Library for Dutch Literature (DBNL). The workshop begins with a presentation, after which you’ll get stuck in yourself. By the end of the workshop, you will be familiar with the various digital catalogues and what they are used for. You’ll also be able to use filters and search tools effectively to help you with your research.

Research at the KB

The KB believes it is important to support academic scholarship and research. This, and making the collections accessible, is achieved through initiatives like the researcher-in-residence programme, fellowships and services such as Delpher and DBNL.
