The KB will be a partner in the Expertise Centre for Digital Literacy on behalf of the library sector. This Expertise Centre connects, inspires and informs those who want to get started with digital literacy in education.
Our society is digitising rapidly and is constantly changing as a result. It is important for everyone to be able to participate in this digital society. In other words, they must be digitally literate. That is why digital literacy is becoming a separate learning area in education. The Expertise Centre for Digital Literacy helps with this.
Ensuring that everyone is able to participate in the digital society is one of the three societal tasks of the library sector. The KB will work within this Expertise Centre on behalf of and along with this sector.
About the Expertise Centre for Digital Literacy
The Expertise Centre for Digital Literacy was set up by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to embed digital literacy in primary, secondary and specialised education. The Expertise Centre does this by, among other things, offering tips, inspiration and tools for education, based on scientific research.
Kennisnet was responsible for implementing the Expertise Centre until recently. The KB and Beeld & Geluid are now joining this endeavour. The KB focuses on supporting education via library professionals. Beeld & Geluid develops tools, among other things, for teachers to incorporate digital literacy into their lessons. Kennisnet coordinates the Expertise Centre and strengthens the network around schools, including by sharing expertise in workshops.
