The KB compiles a list of new books on the Second World War

Inhoudsblokken

Every year, subject specialist Huibert Crijns compiles a list of new books on the Second World War. Among the more than 300 titles, you’ll find plenty of non-fiction and novels, as well as children’s books and comics.

Books on the list

Almost half of the list consists of non-fiction: history books, informational books and diaries. Many of these books are about the war years in a specific location, such as the Beemster, Maastricht, Anna Paulowna or Rotterdam. Among the novels are titles such as Alleen meisjes kunnen vliegen (Only Girls Can Fly) and Codenaam Hélène (Codename Hélène). The children’s book Papa, heb je ooit? (Dad, Have You Ever?) is a personal story that the author based on family photographs and conversations with his mother. These are just a few examples; the full list is much longer.
