The National Library’s extensive collections span more than a millennium. Four times a year, the subject specialists select different highlights to create a unique exhibition offering a broad picture of Dutch history and culture. The collection includes more than a hundred kilometres of medieval and modern manuscripts, old and contemporary books, newspapers, magazines, decorated papers and hand-crafted book bindings. There is always something new and surprising to see, e.g., literature, atlases, fashion magazines, children’s magazines and letters.
The Highlights Exhibition is free of charge and is open six days a week (it is closed on Sundays; see our opening hours).
