Tours of the KB
Would you like to take a look behind the scenes at the KB and see with your own eyes where those millions of collection items are being kept? The KB regularly organises tours of the KB for groups and individuals (ages 17 and up). These tours are free of charge, but a reservation is necessary.
A tour of the KB takes about an hour and includes the reading rooms, the microfilm room, the Special Collections reading room, the stacks and the Highlights Exhibition. You will see places you never get to see as a library patron.
You can make reservations for groups or for individuals:
- Apply for a group tour, at least 5 individuals (form in Dutch)
- Apply for an individual tour, no more than 4 individuals (form in Dutch)
- Change your application (form in Dutch)
Presentations by Special Collections staff
Would you like to see one of our treasures up close and hear our experts talk about them? Our Special Collections staff can make this possible for groups of 10-15 individuals. The presentations take 30-45 minutes and will be adapted to your particular field of interest. Our Special Collections comprise many treasures: from mediaeval manuscripts to work by modern book artists.
Furthermore, our collection specialists can be invited for talks about, e.g., philosophy or Dutch poetry.
Please contact our Special Collections desk (+31 70-3140322) or Anouk Janssen for details and reservations.
