In 2002 the KB launched its e-Depot. The creation of this digital archive was big news. The KB was the first organisation in the Netherlands to start preserving material that was originally published in digital form. Today, the e-Depot contains more than 40 million publications.
The KB's collection of websites as hosted by the former Dutch internet provider XS4ALL has now become Unesco documentary world heritage. It is the first web collection in the world that has been granted this status.
Public libraries across the country open their doors to provide a warm place for people to sit, study, read a book or drink a cup of coffee. This way, they try to support people that are struggling because of the current energy prices.
