The KB's collection of websites as hosted by the former Dutch internet provider XS4ALL has now become Unesco documentary world heritage. It is the first web collection in the world that has been granted this status.
Public libraries across the country open their doors to provide a warm place for people to sit, study, read a book or drink a cup of coffee. This way, they try to support people that are struggling because of the current energy prices.
The national digital public library was used well in the Netherlands last year. 84% of online library accounts borrowed at least one e-book or audio book. This is one of the conclusions of research carried out by the KB into the state of Dutch public libraries in 2021.
