Renewed login system

The KB is migrating to a new login system on the 29 January. Then you will only need to log in once: whether you want to access a digital resource or reserve material. Another new feature is that you can change your username. This no longer needs to be your membership/pass number. See answers to frequently asked questions below. If your question is not listed please feel free to contact us.

Why a new login system?

With the new login account you will only need to log in once: whether you want to access a digital resource or reserve material. This of course applies for the same browser session. You will also be able to change or edit your username. In addition, we will gradually be offering the possibility to use the same login account for all the library services in the Netherlands, including the online Library and the public library memberships.

Will my pass number now be my username?

With the transition to the new login system, your pass number will automatically become your username and you continue to log in with your pass number, as usual. What’s new is that you can change your username if you wish, so it no longer has to remain your pass number.

New members can choose their own username right from the start, but can also change it to their pass number later. So it is totally up to you.

Do I have to create a new password?

With the transition to the new login system, your password will be transferred as well, so you do not need to create a new password. You can of course change it if you’d like. You can also create a new password if you have forgotten your old one.

Why do you sometimes have to log in again anyway?

With the new login account you remain logged in, even if you perform other actions afterwards. For instance, you logged in to change your details and would like to reserve a book in the catalogue later? In that case you don’t need to log in anew. This works only if you continue using the same browser without closing it first. If you continue in a different browser or if you have closed it in the meantime, then you’ll have to log in again.

Why is the login screen different?

In time, you will be able to use your login account to log in to all the library services in the Netherlands, both the KB services as well as the ones provided by public libraries and the online Library. Because it is a collaboration with the public libraries, it was decided to have the color of the login screen match this corporate identity..
