Inhoudsblokken

This week, Erna Winters started at the KB as the new network manager for public libraries. For this role, the KB works together with the Dutch Public Library Association (VOB) and the Provincial Support Institutions (POIs), among others, on the social tasks that libraries are committed to.

The network manager and the public libraries

The KB is part of the library network in the Netherlands. This network is committed to addressing bigger societal issues that can't be solved by libraries on their own. Thus, the public library network contributes to the three social pillars from the joint Network Agenda: a literate society, participation in the information society and lifelong learning. The network manager is a process facilitator and connector regarding these matters.

Erna Winters

In her previous role, Erna Winters was managing director of the ABC House (Kennemerwaard Library and Artiance). She held the same position earlier in Vianen and Zeewolde. She also holds board positions at Eblida (the European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations), Public Libraries 2030 and Sovon (a foundation supporting secondary education in the province of North Holland).

Erna Winters: "I am very much looking forward to my new role. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to the network of public libraries in a different way. I hope in this position to be even closer to the content, allowing us to reach as many residents as possible. This work is close to my heart."

Initial tasks

Winters: "My first task is to take the new Network Agenda from paper to implementation. It is based on the new library covenant to be signed this year. Here, I want to involve not only the parties signing, but preferably everyone around them, so that everyone feels connected."
