Delpher celebrates its 10th anniversary on 20 November. Delpher is an online database of digitized books, newspapers, magazines and radio messages from the KB (National Library of the Netherlands) and other libraries, scientific organisations and heritage institutions.

Sophie Ham is the new curator of Digital Collections at the KB (National Library of the Netherlands) as of 1 October. She will focus on born digital publications, such as websites, blogs and social media. 

Libraries will receive 74 million euros to collaborate with even more schools and daycare centres. This was announced on 30 October by the outgoing Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Mariëlle Paul and outgoing State Secretary for Media and Culture Gunay Uslu.

On 13 September, the Online Library, that is managed by the KB, launched the 'LEES' app to stimulate reading among young people. There are 120 free titles to read and to listen to in the app.

NWO is making 10.3 million euros available for HAICu, a project of which the KB is a co-founder. Read more about this project to unlock cultural heritage with AI.

2023 marks the 225 year anniversary of the KB. Throughout these years, we have put together a remarkable collection. Over the next 5 weeks, we will reflect on 5 extraordinary objects from our collection. 

For its 225^th birthday, the KB created a special video series about the journey a medieval manuscript undertakes when it reaches our library. The 6-part series visits various involved experts and thereby provides a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at the KB. 

In 2022, libraries organised more activities than ever before. The number of visits to libraries also rose. These are among the findings of an annual study conducted by the KB into the state of Dutch public libraries in 2022.  

The architectural firm Office Winhov has presented the first sketches of the new book repository that the KB National Library of the Netherlands is set to build. These so-called Provisional Designs focus on security and sustainability. 

In 2022, the websites of the Online Library, the Youth Library and Bibliotheek.nl attracted almost 6.5 million visits. Read more in the annual report 2022 of the KB National Library of the Netherlands.
