Flora Batava illustrated volumes
The Flora Batava is an illustrated botanical overview and one of the KB's masterpieces. It is the first illustrated overview of the wild flora in the Netherlands and was published in 28 volumes between 1800 and 1934.
Dozens of botanists, artists, colourists and publishers worked on depicting more than 2,630 species of wild plants, mushrooms, mosses and algae. Because it covers 134 years, the book also provides special insight into our country’s changing science, biodiversity and landscape.
We have digitised all 28 volumes of the original work. You can view it online on this page.
