Inhoudsblokken

Today marks the launch of the 'Delve into the largest collection of dissenting voices' campaign. This is the KB’s campaign to increase awareness of all it has to offer, especially among younger Dutch people.

Dissenting voices and lateral thinkers

The campaign highlights lateral thinkers from Dutch history, from the pacifism of Erasmus to Wilhelmina Drucker's feminism. Each lateral thinker is brought to life in a story with visuals and collection pieces. Who were they? How did they go against the zeitgeist of the times? How did society react to them? This will encourage visitors to discover all that the KB has to offer and what it can do for them. Think of the Delpher and DBNL (Digital Library for Dutch Literature) digital collections, the physical collection in our reading room, or various public events.

Project leader Lode Kulik says: "Research shows that many Dutch people have not yet heard of the KB, or have no idea what you can do at our national library. Even though there is so much to discover here. Our collection contains millions of newspapers, diaries and books, as well as handwritten notes and websites. And much of it is available digitally. We hope that this campaign increases awareness of this."

Follow-up campaigns

The theme also aligns with the important concepts of 'freedom of expression and opinion' and 'multi-voicedness', which the KB is working hard to promote. This is the first campaign in a series with which the KB aims to increase awareness. Follow-up campaigns will focus on other topics.
